Wow, very optimistic asking price, considering I've seen several of these in their original cases for less than half the price. Check the auction houses.

Thanks for the link. It is a new serial number for the data base!:) It is a lovely piece but his buy now price is a bit optimistic.(I type too slow...that's what Herb said :))

The leather holster is in less than stellar shape for even half that price.

what is the number on the gun? only the number of magazines is mentioned.

and what would the seller mean with this sentence in the ad? does it mean a reline job?

Bore is very good and was preserved 25yrs ago

Ron Wood 10-12-2013 06:04 PM

The seller was reluctant to give me the full serial number but he trusted me to just use it to add to my data base. The statement about the bore is just some awkward wording, it has not been relined. The magazine #553 evidently went with a Borchardt that was parted out years ago as some parts of it have been reported but not the whole gun.

Doug,
If you find a Borchardt holster in better condition it is either extremely rare or a reproduction. Borchardt holsters are notorious for their poor condition. The soft patent leather did not hold up well at all.

SteveM 10-12-2013 06:35 PM

Ron, I figured that you would contact him about the serial number. That was nice of him to give it to you.

Ron Wood 10-12-2013 06:49 PM

Steve,
Folks are generally pretty decent about giving out serial numbers if you treat them with courtesy, In all the years I have been gathering serial numbers on Borchardts and Lugers, I have only had one individual that refused to give out the number. That is a pretty good record and a favorable commentary on the collector community.

Ron, good work, once again!
