Matched Mags

I need a decent set of police accepted mags, however, do these look right, numbering & Rivet through base?
I note the seller is Pavel - has anyone any prior dealings?

I don't know of Pavel, never particularly noticed before.

The mag bottoms look to me to have been ground/renumbered. If all this "matching" stuff was kept together for 60+ years, where's the GUN?

That wouldn't be "Pawel Nowak" in disguise would it? I know from the K98 Forums that he's a scammer from Europe, I believe actually from Poland but known to sell from other countries. I'd be careful.

I'm not sure if this is the same "Pavel", but there is an old pirate going by that first name that has been peddling outlandishly fake, overpriced junk, for years. He surfaces every year or 2.

The numbers looks suspicious, no suffixes, and I won't even start on the other markings.

Did the police number their takedown tools?

And $800? Gimme a break.

Now I could be wrong, and if I am I'll take my lumps, but my advice on these is to run, not walk, away.

It is interesting that the tool is numbered and not proofed.....

kubel 10-08-2013 11:43 AM

The only way I would even consider paying $800 for those mags and the tool is if I had an all-matching police luger with the exact same serial number. Then, I'd still be skeptical about them coming from Europe.

If you read the letter, the magazines are described as "clips". Odd to me coming from an expert?
Although they do look convincing to me the price is high unless you have the original Luger as stated above.

...and the numbers are stamped on a slant. In the 4th pic down, which shows the serial numbers and those "proofs", notice how the outer diameters of the knobs are not round--the lines from the reflections should be straight, and directly across from one another. These mag bottoms have definitely been ground. I see by the listing that it is not purchased by anyone yet, and that is a good thing! This offer is way too suspect.

I believe they are both post 1945 East German magazines.
