First off this is IMO an original P-Kasten box. It has an age that would be impossible to fake. I made several observations immediately.
The cross bars on the top lid..they appear to be the only wood that is different. These are oak! Very evident from the grain. Also they were carefully routed with a nice smooth edge!

The entire box appears to be made of clear pine. The top even shows a line of heart! Only an end handle piece has a few small knots.

Too the bottom has 14 flathead screws holding it on. I can find no evidence of any nails having been used on the bottom.

The side carry handles have been screwed on with dome head screws rather than flatheads.

There are 2 screw holes in the bottom..these were likely for the loader block.

The handle in the top is absolutely flush with the wood top.
The hardware is made of very light gauge steel.. In particular the plate under the handle. It is very light gauge.
The corners are very tightly mortised..8 for a total of 16.
The carry handle is set with 6 large head rivets.
The side carry handles have a bent stop.
In one of the photo’s you can see behind the front board where the little stops were chisled out. The remnants are quite evident!
The hasps are also very light steel. The clasps portion of the hasps are very different. Smaller backing and they are stamped steel not round bent wire.
The color is very interesting..more of an olive drab than anything else.
The wood walls and top are quite thin as well..I have not measured them yet.
The rivets in the top lid, hinge and hasps there are 3 of them are set absolutely flush. These boxes were meant to be stacked without metal rubbing! The only marking I found on it is apparently the maker mark, LINCKE & Co. The lettering above that is hard to make out? Something fabric Munchen.
