Humped aluminum base mags for 42 byf?

1 Attachment(s)
Just arranged to buy a 42 byf Luger with all matching numbers, including two aluminum base mags that both have serials matching the pistol. Isn't 42 very late to have aluminum mags serialized to a pistol? Those serial numbers look more sloppy than I've seen on other Luger mags.

I do not have the pistol in my possession yet, but I do have a pic of the mags:

These are forged, "Matching" magazines. For starters, as noted, 42's had plastic bottomed, non serialed magazines. Secondly, both your magazines show the "+" of the spare mag, which would not be correct and lastly, they each have different letter suffixes, with would not be correct either.
Someone ruined someone else's hope of ever finding the matching mags for at least two pistols. Sadder still as they are both SE/63 proofed.

Many 42's had serial aluminum based mags. But as Alanint notes, both of these are faked. Even overlooking a plus(+) on each, the numbers are upside-down.

On the left mag is that a faint 0 to the left of the 7?

What a hatchet job...
Someone was really trying to pull a fast one there.

if the seller is telling you the mags are just like they left the factory, you need to make sure if you an inspection and return right on the pistol. most times we pay a premium for 1 matching mag and a bigger hike for 2. if you like the gun and want to keep it, you might ask for a discount on the gun.

Does the seller have possession of your money yet?

Make sure you break down the luger and inspect the internals. There may be more surprises.

Unless discounted to begin with, I would proceed very cautiously or not at all.

If you arranged to buy this rig, but have not actually purchased it, disengage from the deal immediately on the basis that it is fraudulent if it was represented as an all matching rig.

These did not leave the factory this way. The seller can only have other issues to deal with. Even with an assurance of inspection and full return privileges the seller is not trustworthy.

The seller's problem could be ignorance as well as fraudulent intent, so be careful about accusing them of malfeasance.
