Way OT-Insect Camouflage

Happened by this yesterday, nature sure has her way of doing things. Would've been better if it had been in it's natural surroundings rather than the hood of a car. But then again I probably would have never seen it. Still looking to find out it's official name.

It took aircraft designers about a century to come up with a design similar to this, when nature had it all laong.

That is a beautiful moth. Here is one from our back patio not quite so camouflaged but a big guy...about 8-inches from tip to tip of his wings. Nature is certainly entertaining.

My guess: snow veined antler moth.

My resident expert (Patricia, Certified Indiana Master Naturalist)
calls this one a "Luna Moth", Actias luna. She's researching the other two.

Say Gunny;

Is that a merkava in your Icon? Hope no one touches off a main gun round while in that position.

Yep, that's a "Chariot." Don't worry, the main gun is out of battery.

But there is kosher barf all over the gunner's cadillac controls! :thumbup:
