8 Attachment(s)
Just for interest or discussion I thought i would share this truly eclictic Luger.
Top assembly- Erfurt Frame- DWM Barrel- Simpson Trigger/small parts- mauser Can't find any Krieghoff or Swiss parts so it doesn't cover the whole world.... LOL It has a matching aluminum bottom mag which I wasn't able to find today. |
Now that is truly a "Heinz 57" Luger. I bet it is a good shooter though. Thank for posting.

The upper is a police, so it received a barrel that was likely bought by the Berlin armory and installed - these were installed when a barrel needed replacement, or they bought a 7.65mm barreled luger from DWM. And was acceptance marked by Simson before sold to the police

Just in case anyone is interested, here is what Sam Costanzo had to say about it:
|
Neat Letter Gary!
|
I met Sam Costanzo many years ago at the Houston Gun Collectors Shows. He was always friendly and informative. Is he still around?
|
he passed away in the early part of 2010 i think.
|
Ed, If I'm following you, your saying that this may have actually been a police gun and not a post war put-to-gather?
If so please elaborate a little on the SN. I haven't found anything in your book yet about SNs starting with a 0 (quickly I will admit I'm only part way through the book though--way too many irons in the fire. Retired in '92 and again in '00 and have more to do now than I ever did.... Gary |

The first clip is where he "Stop Press".. I love it. Now days, just delete and retype. The second clip at the end of the letter where he re-thinks something he said and does a PS. Those are rarely seen any more. I owe a lot to these two folks along with many others of lesser renoun that did so much to encourage me in my collecting. Sorry for the off topic stuff--juat an old fart living in the past. Gary |
