20 Commercial Art?
Just as the gun show closed yesterday one of my friends came by and commented on a proposed 20 Commercial Art. on one of the tables. I asked what he thought of it as that is one of the most easy types to fake,
"Well, I couldn't find a single proof mark on it and it is stamped "Germany". That sure is a start, hope it is there today as I'd sure like to check it out. Responses on this thread will be too late for today unless made early. I can check the board from a phone, but if I hook up with the guy and can follow up does anyone have any cautions or advice about such? Gary |

Follow up, it is a fairly nice 20 commercial. Not nearly as interesting as this was though:

buy books bud. At least pick up charles kenyon lugers at random for 40 bucks. You can have a general idea of what any luger is with that book. commercial artys were military proofed , some where not proofed .

It might be the angle from which the picture was taken, but, judging it by the overall size, trigger and trigger guard shape it looks like a repro/newly made 1907 Test Luger in 45 ACP.

Douglas, that is exactly what it is. It is discussed in another thread http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=31183

why would a krause pistol have germany on it?
|
It doesn't. He is talking about two different guns, a 1920 LP08 Commercial and the gun in the case.
