writing??? Would others please take a stab at the writing? I 'think' the first is 'Gefreiter' and the last is either Kunst or Krause.

I'd love to know this guys name. I purchased this Militarpass yesterday and I've put it together with a Luger that was within this soldier's company. I had seen this item months ago but it wasn't until yesterday that the old memory clicked in and I made the connection.

This is another page in the book. I haven't received the pass yet but this is what finally put my memory in gear.

In 1913 were only 4 MGK in the IX Army Corps and I think that was the same in 1914.
1. MGK was detached to the I. Bataillon of the Inf. Reg. 75. in Bremen
2. MGK to the III. Batail. of the Gren. Reg. 89. in Schwerin
3. MGK to the I. Batail. of Inf. Reg. 162. in Flensburg
4. MGK to the I. Batail. of the Inf. Reg. 31 in Altona

My understanding is, both this soldier and this Luger were in the same company during the same time.

I'm sure his last name was 'Kunst'.

Your answer brings up another question, would this be a replacement Milipass since he has the rank of Gefreiter?

It's a second issued Militärpass as noted on the top of its cover ("zweitschrift")
I made a search at volksbund site (that lists the known German wargraves), and there is no Ferdinand Kunst from Wohlendorf, born in 1894, listed there.
So the former owner of this Militärpass likely survived the war.

Here are a few things I "think" is wrote:

He was wounded in Belgium and received the wound badge in black.

He was in the hospital for ten weeks.

He served in Russia and France.

He received 65 Reichs Marks mustering out pay.

His MG Sharpshooting training was with Stabs Commando West, 3 Training Kompany. Trained with the MG.08 and ended with shooting classification 2. I don't know if that little tickmark signified he receive the MG sleeve badge or not!!!!!

He was in various MG units but ended the war in the 2nd Ersatz MG Kompany 9th Corps.

That's all I could guess at. Wish my german script was better.

He was wounded in Russia and not Belgium. He received shrapnel below the elbow and a bullet in his chest. He was fighting in Belgium when the war ended and was transferred to Bezirks Kommando in XXX and released from Service.
