Need advice on Luger

2 Attachment(s)
Hi..I am trying to get my hands on a Luger. The top of teh barrel is stamped 1914 and on the side are the numbers 5782. Everywhere else on the gun in several places is the number 82, so I believe I have a matching numbers gun? Any idea what it's worth?

Thanks for the help.

To be matching, all the normally numbered parts need to be checked.

I can't really judge the finish from your photos, but if it's all original, this could be a collectable Luger.

Take future photos outdoors in indirect (shaded) sunlight. Set your digital camera on closeup and use a tripod and the self timer to eliminate camera shake.
T
Get closeups of the serial number and suffix letter on the front of the frame and on the bottom of the barrel. The suffix letter is part of the serial number.

If a "shooter" (any part mismatched and/or refinished) it's worth $900-$1000. If a collectable with 95% finish it's worth $1500+.

Lots of small numbered internal parts to be checked for numbers, including the grips, firing pin, etc, etc. Search youtube if you need help with further disassembly/reassembly.
From what I can see it looks like a nice early WW1 gun. I'd come in a bit lower than $1500+, but still nice.
Welcome aboard!

Is it a DWM or an Erfurt? That will effect the value.

George:
Looks too nice to be an Erfurt...

I cannot see much from these photos, anyway to be matching, all the numbered parts should be checked.

For what I can see your L uger seems in good conditions, but I would say more detailed photos are needed.

Could you elaborate - I am new to this gun, so not sure what this means?

Thanks

Looking down on the gun, there will be a maker's name on the "toggle", either a scrolling "DWM" of a boldly printed "ERFURT" with a crown.

No typical Erfurt proofs on sideplate, Takedown lever and grip screws.
