What is wrong?
 

Gentlemen,

I replaced the firing pin on my Luger, first with an original one and second time with a repro. In both cases the gun became almost impossible to fire. So as next step i replaced the lever in the trigger sideplate but achieved almost similar results. However, I noticed that the firing pins are not similar. One has a short sear part and the other one a longer. What I´m doing wrong?

Here in Sweden the gun must have a minimum of 1360 grams for trigger pull in order to be allowed in competitions. As it is now, I have to squeeze the trigger way more than this limitation.

You mean, you pulled the trigger hard, the firing pin was not released? Or the pin was released, no bang?

The firing pin was released and the gun discharged. However, the pull was hard. I used a small fishing scale to measure it but the pull exceeded its range (5 kg).

This usually has to do with the trigger, lever, sear interface. Have you removed the sear and completely cleaned the channel it rests in? Also, is the lever between trigger and sear a fairly snug fit, (not too much distance of travel)?
Does the little plunger on the sear move freely? Does the sideplate lock up snuggly?

Take the top off and with just the top portion check to see if your sear bar is moving freely in and out on it's pivot. This portion will release the firing pin WITHOUT the bottom portion or the side plate. This is what I would check first. If the sear bar moves easily and fires the pistol (releases the firing pin) You will have that portion out of the way!
Then you can move on to the other sections. Trigger move with ease? section it out to troubleshoot.

I found the problem: I looked closely at the gun and noticed that my new so called "no fitting required" grips pushed the safety lever upwards. Very slightly yes, but enough to block the back part of the sear.

A new lesson learned :)
