They'd be on the table for dinner in my county and the Sheriff would be the one saying Grace.

I wonder how they would be in a Gumbo?

Beautiful cranes. Over here, we never see them, only have deers running cross road. I ran into one at day time two years ago, car heater was damaged.... in winter.

During law school we took a ride to western Pa and was amazed how many deer fatalities we came upon! Beside alligators, tourists and retirees, we are pretty safe here in south Florida !!

I visited Tampa FL a few times. Amazed to see the number of alligators there. Another memory was I drove onto a wrong bridge on my way to the airport, I was late and that bridge was miles long.... when I finally arrived at the gate, the door was just about to close :)

Also passed Miami a few times, but I had no time to leave the airport. It's very different -- people's average walking speed was obviously slower in Miami (comparing with other big U.S. cities), more relax.

Its probobly because they have no place to go or they were tourists. Seriously, Air conditioning made Florida liveable and Henry Flagler brought then down. Grandma only had ceiling fans as did everyone. When in the early 60s and portable air units were available life became liveable. A common misconception is that those who live here are used to the heat. We hire South Americans for yards and various grove work. From this first thing waking up and getting anywhere, we are always in some form of air! We all have generators to keep the lights and A/C on in case of hurricanes or power failure. And of course our Gun Rights! I couldn't live anywhere else!!!PS It never to early!!

99% of traffic accidents in my county are because of deer. Deer is our second crop, then turkey after peaches. People come as far as away as South Africa to kill a deer. Big business here. South county use to look down on people in north county because of the great farmland and the north was woods, hills and moonshine. Now land per acre is worth more in north county because of the hunting from out of county and out of staters.
