Unmarked FXO Magazines
I have a 42-byf Luger with a black knob extruded body FXO type magazine.
There is no FXO or inspection eagle mark on the magazine. The magazine is identical to marked FXO magazines. Has anyone observed unmarked FXO magazines? |
Dick, Yes..Unmarked plastic FXO mags are mentioned in Benders Luger Holsters and Accessories. I seem to remember one of the more knowledgeable members tell me these were correct for late Krieghoff pistols?

fxo un-marked...
I have seen them, although not common... I always thought late war police or commercial... but, also, consider that the East Germans used a great plenty of mags left over from WW2,and then produced a similar product with an aluminum bottom... But, I would think that the Bakelite bottom would make it German WW2 issue... Hard to say??....best to you, til..lat'r...GT:cheers:

Jerry, GT,
Thank you for your comments. I have had this 42-byf Luger since 1963 and never noticed the lack of markings. Makes me question my observation abilities. |
WW2 manufacture...
Hi Dick, one thing I know for sure! The fxo type mag that will accept the Bakelite bottom with the near center pin, has to be WW2.. the post war mags are about .080" to '100" shorter over all, and will not accept an original Bakelite bottom... It just won't work?? I'd probably be rich if they did??... :)... best to you, til...lat'r...GT:cheers:

It is probably for a commercial Mauser Luger made during the later war years. It would look great in my 42 Banner commercial. If you want to trade for a minty correct mag for your gun, let me know!

I have a Late / POST WAR Krieghoff Luger (blank toggle and proffed on the small parts ; and generally strange as the frame is numbered in three places ) it looks like a Black Widow . It came with THREE unmarked alloy base mags and the capture papers too .

Paul,
How does a post-war gun have capture papers? I'm guessing it was obtained and brought home by a G.I. in the occupational forces? |
