In Re 1903 DANZIG TEST LUGER

Toggle is unmarked (except for two scratches)...How do you tell this is a Danzig??? :confused:

I vaguely recall reading that the armory (?) at Danzig may have assembled some Lugers or maybe made parts...But how would anyone identify them??? Simpson's doesn't say...

I'm on the lookout for a nice Spandau Luger...With the Spandau toggle... ;)

This is really Ron Wood's territory but these pistols were acquired from DWM and tested at the Danzig Arsenal and some are marked with a Crown D.

These pistols are in a defined serial number range and are roughly in the same range as the Dutch trials. They have blank toggles.

Still, Kenyon, and of course, Goertz and Sturgess discuss them.

Most are found in Fat Barrel 9mm having had their 7.65mm barrels switched out at the arsenal. Or so I believe.

Most, including mine, are in very used condition.

But experts can discuss further.

does the crown-d also appear on the back of the frame above the lanyard ring? i did a google search for danzig luger and there are some discussions by jan still which indicate this.

your 2 postings from the 2 auctions are of the same pistol. look at the serial numbers.

I never noticed! I check them both. They are the same luger! I searched "danzig arsenal luger"!! Keep it in quotes first then without!

I have one. Ron Wood and I found it at the Reno show a few years ago. It was a walk-in and I bought it from the young citizen who brought it in to sell. On the example I have acceptance stamped on the rear of the frame, is a mixed parts pistol.

These have no relationship to the Danzig Arsenal, except possible storage there!
