Illinois Concealed Carry

News Update...FLASH!!!

It was just announce on the news that my governor will sign a Concealed Carry Bill later today....with Ammendments. What they will be is anyone's guess. As it stand now, 16 hours of training (more than any other state), Background Check (we have that anyway) and $150.00 fee (which will go to the Chicago coffers).

More to follow...............

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our governor in Springfield, the puppet Governor of Chicago, vetoed the Bill. Seven days and it won't matter.

Well, it is nice to live in a free state - which I do.

Just picked up my renewed concealed weapons permit on Monday of last week. With it, I can carry my Ruger AC-556 concealed if I wanted to.

lugerholsterrepair 07-02-2013 02:41 PM

Or in Arizona..ANY law abiding Citizen can carry..WITHOUT a permit. Thank you Gov. Jan Brewer.

Neil Young 07-02-2013 03:02 PM

What's the situation in Colorado Jerry? This is not a gotcha question, I really want to know.

lugerholsterrepair 07-02-2013 03:41 PM

Neil..This state has gone crazy. The laws recently passed do nothing what so ever to decrease crime or improve safety..just like most of the feel good laws passed. I wish there was some magic law but there just isn't. So Colorado shoots themselves in the foot...Ruining it's appeal for hunters and manufacturers of what used to be legal items.

What can you do? I visit here for 6 months and go back to Arizona for 6. I can't vote here even though I own 3 properties. I can't even buy an in state fishing permit and have lived her for 50 years. So..they will have to do without me!

You can go online and see the gun laws these idiots passed. They banned 30 round magazines but have NO way to regulate the ones already here or any you might bring in next year. Those are grandfathered. Stupid is as stupid does and these fools are busy doing it!

One saving grace, is that Colorado still honors most other states concealed carry permits. My wife and I are taking a road trip through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Nevada this month and only Nevada won't honor my CCW permit even though Arizona recognizes Nevada CCWs. Go figure.

lugerholsterrepair 07-02-2013 08:15 PM

Lyn, If you and the Mrs. plan on coming to this part of Colorado we would be happy to have you come by.

Illinois legislative will be in session next Tuesday and word is, there are enough votes both in the House and Senate to override the Chicago puppet's veto.

...???...I don't understand your reference to 'Chicago governor'...there are two governors??? Or is Chicago political machine so powerful as to dictate state policy (like Bloomberg in NY or Feinstein in CA)???

NoncomRetired 07-03-2013 09:07 AM

The state is controlled by Chicago, the governor is controlled by Chicago and our capitol is considered Chicago. Chicago has the controlling voting base, hardly any governor can get elected or re-elected without Chicago. Chicago is democrat along with three other counties and that voting base controls the whole state. What Chicago says, Illinois does. It is and always has been Chicago who dictates our gun control and it has taken federal intervention to get this far, Chicago believes they are above the law which explains why Chicago is one of the most corrupt and crime ridden cities in this nation. BTW, it also explains why Romeo Rod Blagoivich is in prison and when he and five other governors who have either gone to prison or are in prison, it says a lot about the corruption that has and still does go on in this state. Al Capone left a legacy that still exist to this day in Chicago politics and politicians.

Same as in New York State. NY City controls the state; and as you mention, is democrat.

Curious - In my admittedly small group of friends (or acquaintances), no one seems to have voted for our governor, or even out present president. Popular vote has no meaning any more (if it ever did), political machine determines ruling class. I suppose it is no surprise that they fear armed citizenry...

A few million grateful newly minted ex-illegal immigrants could really boost your election chances, couldn't they?

I am from the Chicago area. I left there 31 years ago. Best move I've ever made. I still visit because relatives live there. My downstate relatives (near Quincy) don't think much of Chicago or Cook County...

Plain and simple... someone probably got through to Quinn and impressed him with the short future political career he'll have if he does the right thing and puts Illinois concealed carry on a footing that doesn't infringe the Second Amendment.

For some light reading, check out this site... It confirms how effective their thinking is: (I didn't name the site)...

CCW premits

I.m sorry to see all of the problems you have in some of our states. I live in SC and our CCW laws are very lenient. I carry all of the time except for some places like schools and bars. Come on and move here.
Bill
