1918 DWM Proof Marks.?

2 Attachment(s)
...I picked up a DWM 1918 ...All matching numbers with exception of the magazine...bore is very good.....the mystery to me is on the right side ....there are no acceptance or proof marks....in the last couple of months I have seen a couple Luger Pistols shown on the Forum also without the acceptance or proof marks......bottom line question......what is the general opinion of the lack of marks.?.....late war..?.....the pistol has been extensively shot as the grips..(which match) show much wear.......anyway.....would just like to get a knowledgeable opinion as to the lack of proofs...I have looked very closely at the right side with a magnifying glass and cannot see any old marks that might have shown any proofs at all.........Danke...Hans Fischer

"Hans", I've seen quite a few 1918 PO8 receivers without the final test firing proofs, but most have at least the rear most inspection mark and usually 2 additional crowns without the letters below, for later proofing. These were generally left over parts at the end of WW1, that had not been assembled into complete pistols. I suspect that your unmarked one, was assembled post WW1 as a commerical pistol. Any c/N markings on the LEFT side or under the barrel? TH
