PP eagle/C (für polizei) correct serialmarkings?

4 Attachment(s)
Got lucky i guess, PP with eagle/C (police) serial 214663 P in wery good condition, and correct magazins?
But, my main question is - should the serial number altso been on the right side of slide?
I cant find any digits inside the slide, its well used you know...
I think that the slide is the right one for this gun...?

Thanks!
P.S.
As Julius C said, without the luck, i would have lost the war against the Galls...

My 1940 Walther PP only has the serial number on the frame like yours, not on the slide. It's not a police model, however.

I am pretty sure it depends on when it was made. After a certain date, the slide was marked with the serial number, before no. And the inside marking is very easy to be rubbed out and/or hard to see, sometimes you have to shine a light just right and the right angle.

Thank you both - and i belive that this is correct. Walther did not use serial markings on any models right on slide on PP before serial 220xxx, and as Edward sais, the scratched inside marking at the ejection port did vanish quick or easy. That is why they started to mark the slide altso.

Kubel: Do you see the tre digits inside slide at the ejection port on your 1940?

I was under the impression that all PPs and PPKs that were marked with the E/C were police pistols. Why is this one not considered a police pistol?

Herman,
The PP in the first post (Gebirg) is a police gun. Kubel (second post) said that his 1940 PP is not a police.

Thanks, Ron. I was a bit confused with the postings, photos and narratives. I am now straight again.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I was indicating my pistol was different as it is not a police pistol. Gebirg's PP is definitely marked as a police pistol.
