Interarms Luger...

All,

New member here that would like to pick your brains concerning the Interarms Mauser Luger's from the 70's. I have just finished reading a few post on here concerning these pistols but until now did not realize that there were the Swiss style and the P08 style available...having said that all the ones I've seen for sale in the past few weeks are the Swiss style, which I was just about to purchase until I stumbled upon this forum, and now I believe I'd like to have the P08 style instead.
That being said does the P08 version in 9mm (4 or 6 inch bbl.) come along for sale very often and are there any sites to look on other than the usual suspects, i.e. GB, Auction Arms, GA, etc...? I don't mind waiting if they seem to come up on at least a semi-regular basis, but if they are like finding hens teeth I may just go with the Swiss for the time being. This will be a shooter not a collector, so if I were to find one that wasn't NIB so much the better in regards to purchase price, but if it is NIB that is OK by me as well!
Any help would be appreciated....

Regards, John Shouse.

There are fewer of the 06/73(08) than there are of the 29/70(Swiss). Even fewer of the 7.65mm(30 Luger) 06/73 if you happen to be looking for one of those. Most of the ones you do find are still NIB. Once in a while you will find one on GB that has actually been used as it was intended. I looked forever for the 06/73's and there just weren't any to be had. Then I ended up with 4 of them in a 2-3 year period. They are out there you just have to be patient. Expect to pay a few hundred more for the 06/73 rather than the Swiss model. GB is the most likely place to find them though you have to be creative in searching for them. Cabellas is another good place to watch.

I, like you, was wanting the P08(06/73) far more than the Swiss model. I also wanted a 6in. bbl in 9mm. I haunted the normal places on nearly a daily basis for "my Luger". Then one day, there it was for sale. I was not about to let it get away. Long story short, I now have my Interarms Parabellum configured exactly how I wanted it to be. They are out there, but you just have to be patient and keep looking. Have you looked at Simpsons Firearms? A bit pricey, but an excellent reputation for quality products. Good Luck.

I have a 4 inch American eagle / 9mm in p08 style and a 7.65 mm 6 inch in Swiss config, I prefer the p08 style, but my Swiss is a pretty little thing :)

I have looked at Simpson's, and this is what they have that caught my eye:

But that is way, way, way.....did I say way....over what I had in mind to spend! I may end up going with the Swiss style for the moment if all the P08 models are this high!

GB and Cabela's it is then....I'll do a daily search and see what U can come up with.

I looked nearly daily for 9 months before I found my unfired Mauser. The "regular" Mauser Parabellums are not nearly as pricey as the Commemorative Editions.

Captain John Jarrett 04-28-2013 10:25 PM

I have been offered two "regular 06/73" Mauser's to purchase and both prices were way beyond what I had in my mind of spending. I'm not saying that their not worth the asking price to someone, but their definitely not for me, so I hope your correct and that I can find one that is more in line with what my willingness to spend is!
Having said that if I were going to blow my wad as it were this would be the one I'd go for...found it last night and have had to sit on my hands to not bid on it!:

That's a FINE looking pistol!

Captain John Jarrett 04-28-2013 10:44 PM

Lord almighty yes indeedy it is...but I want a shooter, not a safe queen, and I might get physically ill if I spent that much knowing I was going to substantially decrease the value within hours of receiving it! :)

I hear ya!

RAY1946 05-02-2013 09:19 AM

John, I hear you. I have 2 29/70's with 6inch barrels that are real sweethearts, would not sell them for anything.
One is a 9mm and the other is a 7.65mm.
Unless you need them "right now", its best to watch very closely the online auctions. I bought both of mine in November and the end of December. To me, it looks like the best time is when the holidays are approaching and folks are selling things to buy gifts......................

I have an Interarms 4" 9mm. Swiss frame that I'd sell for $1000 that I'd rate at 98%. Fired a couple of mags through it when purchased, safe queen now . No box or accessories.
