Portuguese 1906 Question

I just aquired what initial appears to be a Portuguese 1906. The markings are all a circle with a triangle in the middle including wood magazine marking. Numbers are matching for all readily indentifiable parts. My first unknown is there is not a crest on receiver. Receiver does have a circle/triangle on left front side in normal position. Any thoughts ?

Thanks

some of them had the m2 crest removed. is there evidence of this on the chamber and does the chamber seem like is it refinished? what is your guns serial number?

here is one with its m2 removed. http://www.gunsinternational.com/190...n_id=100312267

if you lokk at this other gun, you can see what the m2 markings looks like. http://www.legacy-collectibles.com/h...rtuguese-luger

Thanks for quick response. In photos the bluing looks very dark but when viewed in person the bluing is quite weak. Viewed in the sun the gun has a reddish/rust appearance. I have included photos of various parts. If crest was ground off the job was good. Left grip does not have any markings but right grip is marked.

If crest was ground off and gun as been arsenal refinished etc, how much effect does it have on its value. I had been searching some time for a reasonably priced luger in better than just shooter condition. I purchased for modest price from (inheritance) younger gun owner who believes gun are evil.

Hi Mike, Welcome to the forum! It looks like this gun was refinished some time ago. I understand that most 1906 Portuguese Lugers had their Royal crests removed when Portugal became a Republic in 1910. I'm sorry that this now relegates the gun to "shooter" status.
Regards, Norm

another thing to think on it to have an engraver add the m2 marking back on for you. it would not add to the value but if i owned that gun it would be something i would have done.

this auction has a gun and you can see what the marking looked like. http://www.gunauction.com/search/dis...emnum=10200307

I have a P08 serial #5697 with a script "n" below the serial#. It has original bluing, grips, and all prts match. I cannot find a date on it. Can anyone help to understand its age and value? This has the C/N also..

Hello welcome to the forum. You should make a new post in the new collector category with pictures if you want a detailed response with a value. It sounds like an alphabet commercial at first read.
