Help with two commercial Lugers please

Hello all,

I have two commercial lugers that I'm trying to get an idea of what they are, age and approximate worth. I own several thanks to my father, but unfortunaly dont know much about them other than what I've been reading here and a couple books I have. Lots of photos, but if there is anything else you need, please ask. I'm looking to add an M1 Garand to my collection and these may go to fund that. Thanks in advance!

Both Lugers are .30 caliber

First Luger:
Serial number 5705, Crown over N, Made in Germany on left side of barrel. All numbers match. Bore is in good condition. No pitting. Finish is good, but has some wear. Has original mag, but doesnt belong to gun. Has a small dink on the top of the barrel.

Second Luger:

Serial number 382, Crown over N, all numbers match, bore is good. Finish is great, but I'm not sure if its been reblued. After looking closer, I dont think it was reblued. Shoulder stock lug looks like it was ground off? Or did they come without? Has a mag, but looks to be a repro. Has the word Germany on the right side of frame. Also has a small threaded hole in the front of the trigger guard. Like someone was trying to put in a trigger travel adjustment?

Both appear to be commercial Lugers, and while the book guys can be more specific, a safe guess for the manufacture date is in the 1920's.
I don't see either as highly collectable or valuable, but I'd guess around $850 on the top, and $650 on the second one.
There are a lot of variables to be resolved. Ground off lug or never there? Which one is 9mm and which .30? Etc.
But those are my WAG's.
M1 Garands are a lot of fun to shoot, but then again so are Lugers. You may wish to shoot them a bit before parting with them. Remember that once Dad's Lugers are gone, they are never coming back. There are always Garands out there.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the reply! I totally understand about the fun of Lugers. Like I mentioned, I have several.... maybe a few more than several. Anyway, I have a few that will never be sold and I have a few that could be turned into another form of the hobby. I'll edit the post tonight with which one is which caliber.

Hi,

The hole in the 682m was done after it left the factory, and I think it detracts from it. It might be possible to fix that using a TIG welder, and some work to re-contour the area and refinish it, but it would cost more than the work is worth.

Both were early (1923-1924) commercial Lugers exported to the USA.

Double check to ensure that one is in 9mm. That would be unusual.

Well Marc, you are very correct! My mistake... Last night I was checking several of my lugers and must have gotten confused. Both of these lugers are in fact .30. I added one photo showing the wooden cap on the 5705 luger has a chip missing.

Also after looking closer, I dont think 382 was reblued.

A few more photos:

Unusual "Made in Germany" stamp on the barrel of the first pistol.
