Bannerman 6188
3 Attachment(s)
I have been asked to find this American Eagle a new home. I know very little about these guns and would like some advice on how to best to maximize the value to the owner (91 yr old widow)
ser# 6188, barrel # 8033, hammer has an 11 stamp. Located in Tampa Bay area. Also have a Bauer Bros. Holster. |
Well, posting it with detailed photos here is a start. Take them without flash so that the finish can be judged, and get closeups of all the external markings.
This looks to be refinished and rebarreled. That reduces it's value somewhat. So does the chipped left grip (that can be repaired). After posting the additional pictures, get some estimates from members familiar with collecting Bannerman listed Lugers. You can list it for sale here. You'll get collector prices (dealer prices are retail if you check their sites). On auction sites, anything is possible and marketing it is expensive. Once you have a value and price in mind, list it here. Marc |
I have bought a reblued bannerman number and I have one that is within the 6100-7100 range, likely a test luger but no proof of that.
However, a test is not unknown to be rebarreled, the reblue hurts it value I would be interested in it for the right price and it would stay at another good home :) Ed |
Thanks guys, I will get some better pictures. She said it was operating and fired around 40 years ago, just been stored since then.

Check the nuber stamped on the recoil lug on the underside of the receiver, as well as serial numbers on the breechblock and underside of the center toggle, to see if the barrel has been replaced, or the entire receiver assembly.
