Mint? Luger 42 all matching rig?
 

I would love to have some thoughts on my 1st Luger purchase from 10 years ago...I am sorry to make the pics small...I had to resize for the limit, so I cut the image over 50 percent from original.

my interest in these is new but this is the prettiest one i've seen yet!

Hi Frank, Welcome to the forum! You are right to be proud, the condition of this gun is outstanding. I can't quite make out the chamber date, I assume it's 1939?

Yes it is a 1939(sorry for making them so small but size limits)...came with 4 mags, 2 matching and 2 private purchase and correct hard holster. It does not have any rub marks except on take down sqaure.

I sure like it;way to go.

That's a nice one, any recoil marks on rear of frame from the toggle?

By recoil marks we mean on the very back of the frame, just below the rear toggle numbers. That is where the toggle hits the frame in recoil. It will help determine if it has been fired. Out of good manners, I will not ask what you paid for it, but if you don't mind, what would you guess the value is?

Ok, I will have to take some more pics...next day and post the rear. You not going to believe me when I say this. $350 for this rig, 4 mags, holster and ammo. this was 10 years ago from a vet in a retirment home. I love this bad boy so much...I couldnt part with it. But I was told many quotes. The last quote someone advised me was about 6k for whole rig...I am no expert. But I think I made a great deal:)

I sure dont know the value...but if it really is worth 6k I would be shocked.

At RIA auction that gun will bring the 6K. Maybe more, take a look at recent auction prices realized. Putting up a for sale sign on it yourself won't bring the dollars. The big money only happens at the big auctions and from certain dealers.

That is one of the nicest P08 I have seen. You should be very proud. It sure would look great in MY safe, but it belongs with you. Enjoy!!

Even 10 years ago that vet got short changed a goodly bit.

I'm done collecting. The nicest original Luger WW2 Luger rig has been found....

Someone once commented...it doesnt even have rub marks on gun and hoslter(interior) looks new. As if it was sitting at a desk until a GI relieved it. But the Vet who I got it from said something about taking it off a German Officer(alive) along with all 4 mags. Must have been a desk officer...lol

Some one had to have put some careful thought into storing this rig. It would be interesting as too how it was done.
