Green Box 1986 06/73 4"
10 Attachment(s)
I finally received this last Saturday. It is IG dated(1986), came with everything except the Green Tag. I haven't seen the wood base magazines with the standard production pistols before, I am thinking Mauser was using up whatever was on hand at the time. The mags aren't the hi-polished blue, they are more of the finish type that Mec-Gar has used and are Mauser marked on the spine. Test target is not dated.

That is a beauty....Congrats!! Is it going to be a shooter, or a safe queen? I looked for 9 months, nearly daily, before I located the one that I wanted, and I have ZERO buyers remorse.

Spiffy pistol! 9mm?
|
It's a 9mm and yes, it will be a safe queen. No Interarms stamp and no American Eagle. It is the highest serial number that I have recorded for the 06/73 version.

When you get it, check to see if it has the internal Mauser "FBM" proof mark, or a Nitro proof (done for the European / non US market).
... update after photos posted... Looks like it was originally made for the European marked with E/N proofs. That late in the production life of Mauser's Lugers it must have been stock that was diverted to the USA marketplace... Import Marked? These are remarkably well made Lugers... Congratulations. Marc |
I really loved the configuration grip safety and 4 in. barrel.
It reminds me the DWM 1913 Commercial. Congratulations! Douglas. |
Of all of the 1970s Mauser Lugers this model is my favorite. I have owned two in the past and eventually used them for trading material since they are outside of my main colleting interest. But they are a nice gun and if I ever luck into another one I'm going to keep it!

It's definitely a keeper.. |
Steve, You are correct that the offical US imports from Interarms, would use their Blue & White box. Afer Interarms went out of business, I served as the interim importer of Mauser parts into the USA. They would offen send me parts in the Green boxes as packing, some of which I sold separately. I still have a couple Green boxes in vg used condition without the styraform liner @$35 and one in poor condition @$20 + $10 S&H with lots of padding so they won't get crushed. TH
