Over the first hurdle newbie

Gentlemen,

Well, dumb luck has presented me with a fine Luger I never thought I'd come across. I picked up a very nice matching byf 42 the other day for $990 because the shop owner did not realize what he had.

So, now some newbie questions.

fxo magazines were correct for my model. If I can find someone willing to part or trade for them what can I expect to pay in a cash transaction?

My Luger is from the i-block (2070), can I find out the month it was made like one can with P.38's?

I have read that the final block of byf production for Lugers was the n-block. Is this so? (This info was read from Jan Stills "1940 42, 41 42, byf 41 and byf 42 CODE PRODUCTION ESTIMATE AND DATA REQUEST")

Here is a link with some photos of my Luger:

Thanks Gents,

FXO mags are sought after because they are un numbered and instantly make the right Luger all matching. I see them for $150-$175

Hi Ez, 42 byf, serial number 2070i was completed about June 1942.

It is thought the German Military Contract ended either just before or in the early M-Block. Mauser continued making "42 byf Lugers" for the Portuguese about 5000 in the M-Block, then another 6000 or so, maybe 6500 for Bulgaria, ending in the N-Block.

Hope this helps! :)

Are the fxo mags made for the Mauser Lugers?

I believe I have an fxo mag. Let me check to be sure and I will get back to you.

Yes. FXO, (Haenel), was a WW2 contractor who made magazines for the Mauser Lugers.
