New Member - New Purchase

I just wanted to show off my new purchase and get some more information on it. I purchased this 1917 DWM serial # 8994. It is all matching except the grips do not have a serial number on them. The wood bottom magazine number matches the serial number of the pistol. A holster came with it along with the cleaning rod. The holster is in rough shape. The finish looks to be original and the barrel serial number has the halos. The left side of the pistol has some light pitting, as well as part of the toggle. There are a few other areas of light pitting in other areas but very light. The left side of the barrel has some pitting on the right side near the muzzle. The bore is shiny and has no pitting.

I paid $1200.00 for the pistol, did I pay too much?

I dont know squat about prices but....I think you paid high end retail but with an arty and holster you did just fine with the condition of both items I dont think you got taken . A knowledgeable member will probably come along shortly and give an opinion

Based on the photos and description, no you did not pay too much. Judging by the condition, probably caused by poor storage, it should be worth that and a bit more. It seems like it's tough to find a mismatched shooter for that price these days.
Good job! Take good care of it.

The holster can be professionally restored to its former glory by Jerry Burney, a forum member. It worths the investiment. The pistol itself is avarage condition, but I wouldn't mess with.
Overall I think you did good.

Douglas.

Can't tell too much from the pics, but $1200 is just about right, I think...I would have paid it...

All I have done to it is to gently disassemble it and give it a good cleaning. The bore is mint, and the pistol was full of what appeared to be rig grease. The grips are not numbered and I am going to assume they are replacement. The only number I can find on them is a 2 .

Actually I misspelled my user name. I was upset at first but I think my wife has called me that before. Lol

I can change it for you - not really irritating, just thought it odd...

So should this Luger have numbered grips?
