value of Persian Arty
Gentlemen,
Any thoughts on the value of a Persian Arty Luger? Matching except mag, about 95% thinning blue. I'm thinking of finally letting it go. Best, Kyrie |
Kyrie. I sent you a private message, Bill Hughes

Bill,
Reply sent  Kyrie |
I'll try to get some fresh photos this weekend. Until then there are some photos in the old owners' corner, under my handle ('Kyrie') in the folder named Artilleries.
|
Yup, that was the album.
I'll try to get good, sharp full right, full left, and full top. Also a shot of the magazine base. |
I would be very interested in some more pictures. If not sold I would be interested if the price is right.

The Crown is the Persian Acceptance stamp.
The Farsi inscription says: Pistol Model 1314. The 1314 is the date in the Muslim calendar as distinguished from the Julian date we use. John |
I find peculiar that rear sight notch is not centered properly. Is this case with all Artillery Lugers?
|
Sig:
Probaby has a lot to do with the camera angle. What is startling is that the taller you raise the rear sight, the further to one side it goes. I believe that this is to take into account bullet drift caused by rotational forces, which effects the bullet more as it slows. Or so I'm told... dju |
Remember that Artillery rear sights offset as they are raised so you are not imagining This.

Quote:
This is machined offset in the metal and it stays like that regardless of position of the rear sight. Lowering or rising sight will not change rear notch offset. This is not optical illusion, here: |
I vote that it an illusion because, if you look closely, the gun is tipping slightly away. toward its left side. Stand it directly up and the sight relief notch will look better.

If this helps any, here's a top view of a 1917 Artillery's rear sight. It looks to me that the notch is centered, but that the recess for the adjusting screw is not.
Regards, Norm |
I find another pics of non adjustable rear Arty sight. To me this one (V notch) looks pretty centered inside it's recess.
http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....&pictureid=419 And this one too: http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachme...5&d=1227821856 Wondering weather was it a reason for of-center V notch on that Persian or it was just a sloppiness in QC department of DWM. Another fact is that among these three 1917 DWMs we have 3 different rear sights configuration. Hmmm... |
Kyrie... where the heck have you been? The south pole? Good to see you are still alive.... we haven't heard from you since 2004!
I thought maybe you had gotten out of collecting... What have you been up to? kind regards, -John  |
Actually I did pretty much die, and come back. Strange story, PM send, old friend :-)

Here is a comp from last year:

Purely FYI, Persian Arty is now up on Gun Broker.

Hello.
I would like to ask for your opinion about the value of Persian LP08, no mag, no holster or other extras. Just plain LP08, matching numbers, by the pictures in very good condition. Thanks. |
