Preservation
One of my WWI era holsters keeps getting a spotty whitish bloom on it, looks like fungus or mildew. It wipes off pretty easily, but returns after a couple of months ...
Latest thing I am trying is to wipe the holster with regular household rubbing ( isopropel ? ) alcohol, with the hope it kills the crud without hurting the leather. 'Not a deep soaking, just a light surface wipe. Time will tell, I guess. I am also looking for dummy Luger magazines, wood or plastic, to keep in the mag pocket. And while we're at it, does anyone have a source for dummy Lugers ? I have a plastic one that is a perfect cast from a Luger, and that works great. Also, "WE" Airsoft bead guns made in China ( pot metal ) are the exact copy shape of a Luger, but are too expensive, 100+ dollars. |
Rub the white fungus area with a soft cloth somewhat saturated with vinegar! Then do it again a week later... No more fungus!

I believe that there was a forum member that had both wooden Lugers and mags for sale recently in the "for sale' section of this forum. I am sorry, but I don't remember his name.....perhaps someone will come along and help.

Wooden Mags & Lugers
Go to Jan Stills Luger Forum. Go to Korona 45. His name is Kris. Last post selling these items was 11-20-12. Great guy to deal with.

Something has happened to Jan Still's forum.
I am unable to get back in now, although I have a membership on there. In the general discussion sub-forum of this LugerForum, I posted about this problem, with a screenshot of the error notice that evidently some other members are also getting. http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=29722 When I log into GunBoards.com, That works ok, but there seems to be no bridge or selection to get over to Jan Still's board. |
