Question: Luger byf 41
3 Attachment(s)
Just bought my first Luger and need some info on it....its a byf 41. I'm assuming it is a Mauser P08, serial # in the 15XX range. Still have to disassemble to see if the internal numbers match....I just could not put it down long enough to concentrate LOL. My wife said it is my Xmas gift this year..just bought a house and funds were tight so her blessing made it easier...Believe it or not it was a gunshow DEAL! The guy I got it from upgraded to a nicer Luger and passed this one to me...wasn't even going ask the price..tired of getting disappointed..Had 3 people ask to look at it as I was doing the paperwork...damn! It was meant to be!! My wifes Uncle sent me to this site as he is a collector too. Hope you guys can help me out...Thanks again!

welcome to the forum!
some more precise info can help you, ie any suffix on the serial number? A byf = Mauser and 41 = the year 1941 Have you checked to see if it matches? The last two of the serial number should be on all the small parts, so whatever your XX is, is the two numbers you should be looking for. Although good to have, your holster and the black bottom magazine are likely repro's. Ed |
Hi Samuel, and welcome to the forum.

I would have to say that the last two numbers of his XXX would be #34, and should be found on the small parts.

I don't know what you paid, but the finish on the gun only has minor freckling that will look better when you clean it up. I would bet the numbers match. It should be a tack driver. I owned one just like it, and it was programmed to never miss what I aimed at... For a military gun it was as accurate as any I have ever owned.
welcome to te Luger fraternity... enjoy. |
Haven't had a chance to verify the internal numbers yet...no suffix and the spare mag and holster are repo's (deal sweetners LOL)! Will let you guys know when I disassemble...Thanks again!
