Mystery Navy Rig...
7 Attachment(s)
This interesting, and possibly unique, Navy rig, belongs to Bob Young (Spartacus38). The holster is Type 1 Navy, the stock is a converted Artillery, with inletted Navy disc and C/M marks, and the shoulder straps appear to be of the period. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Regards, Norm |
Norm, I wouldn't touch any of this rig with a ten foot pole. It's hinky from start to finish. Bubba has attacked this thing with a vengeance. If I had time I would point out the first half dozen reasons. shoulder straps appear to be of the period..Not of any period I am familiar with.
I cannot see the holster's back or inside enough to determine what's what there. I know that if I find one flag saying mine field I am cautious and a half dozen flags make me back away slowly. Nothing about this is right IMO but if anyone else has a different opinion I would love to hear it. |
Navy Rig
Hi Jerry,
Don Rousseau,Luger collector, researcher and expert who with Tom Knox and John Pearson helped prepare the Imperial Navy Section of Jan Stills Imperial Lugers. Don also helped in Stills Central Powers,Axis Pistols and Third Riech Lugers. Don Rousseau personally looked at this Navy Rig 13 years ago and said it was unique and "right as rain". Bob |
Who am I to argue. But "right as rain"?? Compared to what?
|
only the holster seems to be correct. I do not like all the other things
|
If possible could we see pictures of the back side of the holster and stock?
|
Bob, I guess Don Rousseau and I have different standards and will have to agree to disagree.
|
The holster is dated 1917,with Crown over M and maker marked Albert Moller.

I have the wrong toe leather strap pictured as pointed out by Jerry Burney.
I sent him a picture of the correct one and asked him to post it. Bob |
Hi Jerry,
Did you receive the picture I sent you?Was it OK? Bob |
