Can you help identify this luger?
 

I recently purchased this and was hoping someone could tell me exactly what I have. I was told it was a vet bring back, but not really sure about that. The numbers don't match and it appears to have both Mauser and Erfurt parts, I think.

Welcome to the forum. What you have is a mismatch parts Luger, which may turn out to be a great shooter, but it has no collector value.

I agree with Alanint 100%. Your Luger is composed of many different numbered parts, so it is shooter grade. If it works reliably, then you have a fun range gun that will surprise you as to accuracy. Break it down for a really good cleaning, inspection, and lubing, then take it to the range and give it a try. I would suggest that you try either Winchester or PMC 115gr FMJ ammo, NO +P, or +P+ ammo.

Sticky, YES there are several "9mm" cartridges. A 9mm Luger is also known as 9 x 19.

A 9mm Kurz is the same as .380 ACP and a 9mm Makarov is also known as a 9 x 18. I'm sure there are more, but these are off the top of my head.

Important differences in 9mm Luger ammo is bullet weight and "P" or +P, etc. Generally for Luger just buy 9mm Luger ammo, 115 or 125 gr, with no +P or any of that nonsense.

Firing issue
 

I finally got it on the range. It fired, ejected the casing, but did not fully reload the next round making it a single shot luger. I was using American Eagle 115 grain ammo. The gunsmith told me to try 124 grain. Any thoughts on what might be the issue??? Magazine spring is really tight, it seems to be aftermarket.

My first suggestion would be to purchase a new MecGar mag for your Luger. All auto loaders are dependent on their mags for reliability. Lugers can, and are many times, ammo sensitive, just like .22cal guns are. You may want to try different brands and bullet weights.

If these things don't get you up and running, then one would need to exchange the springs(recoil, firing pin,mag) so that you know exactly where you stand.

Lugers can be frustrating, to say the least, but once you get it running reliably, you will most definitely enjoy shooting it.

If you have not completely stripped, cleaned and oiled the gun I would do so, as well. These "found" pistols often have a lot of gunk built up inside.
