Notch on upper receiver
1 Attachment(s)
I have a police luger that has a notch in the upper receiver at the barrel. I have seen other lugers that also have this same notch in the upper receiver in the same location.
My question is what was the purpose of the notch and why do some lugers have them and others dont? Attachment 30617 |
The notch is a recess that is intended to allow the rear sight of an artillery model to be fully lowered. I understand that some Erfurt lugers used receivers previously made for artillery models on P08's, or just didn't change the tooling and continued cutting the notch after LP08 pproduction ceased. I don't know of DWM doing the same. Then it could be a converted LP08.

That makes since. Thanks!

Some later DWM's, especially the 1918 dates, have this notch.

The only DWM Lugers with the notch are or were artillery models initially.
