The Borchardt & Luger 3 Book Set

For those that have ordered the new three book set, The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols by Gortz & Sturgess and have not yet received their set, I live in the Midwest and received mine today so hopefully yours will arrive soon.

Hi Tom, the box was a whopping 24lbs., it arrived by UPS ground service, which, in my opinion can't be beat. I once ordered a very large, heavy item from Main, using UPS ground service and it arrived in two days to my home in Central IL. Very impressive.

My set arrived today and the packaging is truly outstanding. Took me about 10 minutes to debox (outer and inner) and unwrap everything. It will take several days just to skim through the 3 volumes. Quality is 1st rate on bindings and case.

I'm happy.

Sturgess Arrives in NC

Hi, My copy of Sturgess arrived today in NC.

Thank you Brad and the team that did such a good job publishing this monumental work.

For those waiting, I've taken pictures to show how well this was packaged. If you are at all concerned about the ship that made it through a hurricane to get these to us, be assured that the packaging protected my copy completely.

Double boxed; Water tight; with protective paper between the volumes. The DVDs are in the back of Volume 1 (which was on the Right in my set) and slip out of their plastic carrier toward the top.

Pictures follow...

My set arrived 2 days ago. Wow! At last...!
One of the DVD boxes had a piece of the edge cracked off; A heavy object with a square corner had encountered the top edges of the hard covers, causing a dent in all three volumes. The set was prodigiously re-boxed, so this did not happen in transit to me--likely some earlier point in its travels. It may make a difference later, affecting collectibility, or in passing the books along (unlikely at present). Does anyone think I should have this issue of relatively minor damage addressed?

I absolutely would David, you paid for a new set in pristine condition and I would not settle for anything less.

One of my volumes arrived with pages there were improperly cut and trimmed (leaving them ragged).

On most books, I wouldn't bother. But these are sure to be collectable in the future.

Simpson's is exchanging the volume now.

The electronic version of the book is tremendous. A laptop weighs considerably less than one of the real book volumes and it's quite fast to search and annotate the book electronically.

The organization and scholarship in this set is outstanding. The writing is quite thorough and well done. The level of detail, I'm just starting to approach.

Sturgess to Go!

The electronic book runs well on even a low cost tablet like the Imio I recently bought (Android v4 Ice Cream Sandwich; 1ghz processor; 512MB memory 4gb storage).

This might be the most accessible way to read these volumes. It also will be a great deal more convenient for taking to shows...

I received my three volume set today. Very well packed, and in beautiful shape. It will be a very nice addition to my reference library. I can see that this will take awhile to read and digest the information.

Time for a lagrer bookcase;)
Received the new books a couple of days ago and had to move some thing around to make them fit.
They arrived safe and sound.
Brad, thank you

Received my set yesterday.

The pdf file for the book on the disk would not open. I tested it on three computers with the same result: an error message saying the file was damaged.

Interestingly, I could open the instructions on the same disk.

I called Simpson today and was told to mail the disk to them for a replacement. Sent it this afternoon. I will let you all know how this works out.

P.S. The books are great.

I have a question for those who may have actually read the book or the DVD...Does the set contain machine drawings ["blueprints"] for the Borchardt???

I already have the history and enough pretty pictures to fill a book...Just interested in the machine drawings... :)
