Luger for luftwaffe...?
 

The "L" next to the eagle over nazicross - is the pistol made for luftwaffe? It is a 1942 mod.

No, that is a police acceptance

are they rare?

Is the toggle inscription MAUSER? Date over the chamber 41-42?

All matching, they are much more rare than military proofed pistols.

I tried to buy this very pistol about 7 months ago but got worked over by the dealer, did you buy it from Intersport by any chance+ Theres a thread I started about the markings here somewhere.
A very nice pistol with a nice holster if you got that too.

No I am not a collector unfortunatly, Its easier to join the Freemasons than be allowed into the Norwegian weapon collectors group ;)
I was looking for Luger some time ago and I would have loved to have got my hands on this one, all I can say is never more will I do business with or recommend Intersport in Oslo. not nice people.
I had a similar nasty experience with Winge våpen when I tried to purchase a 1938 S/42. :banghead: So greedy they drive customers away.

So in Norway is the problem financial, or governmental restrictions on ownership of these guns?

It is a govermential problem if you want to have several weapons, and now they are going crazy because of one sick man.

In Norway, what are the requirements to become a "collector"; and what are the benefits?

Here in USA, you may collect what you want in terms of pistols and rifles and shotguns (with restrictions on fully automatic and silencers under our NFA), but acquisition and transfer are facilitated (especially between states) by having a Federal Firearms License (C&R Class 03).

I've always felt that the Norwegian approach to silencers (avoid bothering the neighbors) was more sensible that our approach (evil silent death facilitating accessories...).

So you are allowed to own only one weapon? One sick man would be the child killer? Too bad. Here in the US every time a deranged looser shoots his guns there are calls for more gun control, restrictions, etc, but for now there are enough of "us" that they haven't gotten far. But some day that will change.

Short answer, if you take a fairly easy test for a hunting permit you are open to buy a whole arsenel of long guns with little or no raised eyebrows, if however you want just one handgun you must be kept an eye on as only deviants have an interest in such things, right? First you have to join a club, pay for a safety course, attend training routinely for six months, then you may apply for one pistol in heavy cal (.32 up) one in light (.22) the same for revolvers, one per category. If you compete on a regular basis the police may consider you worthy of a reserve weapon after one year.
There are other catagorys for Magnum and special weapons too but each weapon must be documented as being used in competition to keep on the right side of the law,also each time you apply for a new weapon it costs 80 bucks. I am having to give up some of my handguns as I simply haven't the time to attend all the comps, with two baby's taking up most of my time now.
To become a registered collector you have to be invited by the society that regulates this and attend regular meetings which are held 600 miles ( oops kilometeres not miles) from my city, until they feel you are worthy, however long this may take..The cost of this is simply staggering!
The only way this will ever happen is if you already have a friendship with a collector.
They are notoriously difficult to contact and become involved with, like I said very similar to the Freemasons.
As I said there are some more to it, but in a nutshell that's the situation.

All said and done its still a better deal than in Britain:thumbup:

So, i did not buy that Luger from Intersport in Oslo, just curios... I am a lucky owner of a few german weapons from ww2, and i got one Luger - you can see my P08 if you find the thread "shot in blindness"...

No, just funshooting with my Luger. In competition i use a number matched G.33/40 same model as my Luger, 1940. And i also use a m98 from 1939 made by Steyr for Luftwaffe, nr. match. beautiful rifles both of them...
