M marked Luger
I recently received some pics of a Luger that I'm considering buying. I showed them to a friend who thought the "M" stamp below the proofs looked non-orginal. Any thoughts? And what does the "M" denote?
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/IMG_1291.jpg I also think the stamps on the mags look funny. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/IMG_1293.jpg The top http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/IMG_1288.jpg |
May be someone trying to give the impression that it is a Navy item (Marine).
The S/42 is bogus. Never left the factory marked like that. It looks like a reasonable 1940 date "42" code Luger that someone has been adding marks to awkwardly. Magazines look like original numbers were scrubbed, and they were re-stamped to "match" the Luger. In any case, as altered, a manipulated shooter. Marc |
No idea on the M.
Artillery holster in the background? dju |
Some mechanic has been monkeying with what was once a nice pistol. Marc is right on the money. The guy who did this turned a collector pistol into a shooter. $7-800 IMO.
David..Artillery holster in the background? Maybe Police? |
Jerry:
I was going by the closure strap. Pushes over the brass stud, not he typical buckle. And I can't see any evidence of the top strap, such as one on the Atty. stock board. But we're getting a bit off subject here... dju |
David..actually the photo is poor enough to leave some guestions for sure. Could be either an Artillery or Police but I suspect Police as it seems to have a magazine pouch not a rod sleeve ? Hard to really tell though and I can't see any sign of a stud..
Might as well go onto something else..this Pistol was killed by Bubba... |
You guys are a great wealth of info as I try to add a decent original Luger to my collection. Thanks! I had a buddy who collects these look at some of the pics and he mentioned the holster is a police one.
