Luger Owners!
I own a beautiful Luger from 1940 - the year Germany invaded Norway, 9. april it was! My Luger is number matched, beside the mag. My Luger is 1940 serial nr. 4993, waffenamt 655, producer is 42, Mauser i think - barrel diam. is 8.83mm. My mag is nr. 9983 amt. nr. 37 - we can switch mag if you have mine, and i have yours... |
Welcome to the forum Asle,
Your serial number is 4993e, as the script letter below the numbers stamped on the frame is part of the full serial number. Although the magazine does not match the gun specifically, I think it is period correct, appears to be an fxo code due to its straight cut bottom, aluminum pulls and single retaining pin thru the center of the pulls. Very nice pistol! David Parker |
A 42 code Mauser should have a 122 coded magazine.

Hello again and thank you all!
George as you can see on the mag, it has the nr. 122 printet above the amt. nr 37 David, thank you for the "e" correction, i did not know - and it is a nice pistol. I have fired aprox. 100 rounds, and the accuracy is 100% Can not find fxo code on the mag... Asle from Telemark in Norway |
