Another First time Luger Newbie

Put info in wrong thread and deleted it. Sorry.

DMW S#5968t, No stamps on the frontstrap or backstrap, Crowned N on left side front of toggle, three proofs on the right side, second stamp being WaA66, and the third is a very small eagle that is deeply stamped. No date stamped above chamber, no markings on the trigger guard.Grips have non-matching numbers as well.

Barrel is non-matching S#1352m with an eagle stamp on the right side of barrel near the chamber.

Would this be a candidate for restoration or just keep it as is?

It is a 29 DWM police as evidenced by the sear safety. It did have at one time a magazine safety. The serial number placement on the small parts are "hidden" in the commercial style.

If it were mine I would leave it as it is, there is nothing wrong with the condition it is in. Looks like an honest piece, even with the mismatched barrel.

I agree with Steve, leave it like it is, will probably make a heck of a nice shooter

Welcome to the forum,

Thanks everyone. Insides are clean, so a shooter it will be.

Dang things are addictive, and good at attracting attention.

Welcome to the forum, that pistol looks great!
+1 for leaving it all natural

That should make you a great shooter, and could "possibly" lead to further Luger purchases.....that is what happened to me!! You could have worse habits than Luger acquisitions.

Like Marriage????

I can understand the urge. There is so much history of these guns and fame/infamy. Hoping to get it to the range next week. Wonder what stares I would get for putting it on my duty belt....

Already starting to consider what model to buy next. I look forward to it.

Just be sure to use standard velocity ammo, like Winchester white box, Federal Champion, etc. NO +P, +P+, or NATO ammo. I have had good luck with PMC 115gr FMJ ammo. Good Luck.

I'll be using Speer lawman fmj.

Rhuff, what part of AZ you in?

Speer Lawman 115gn 9mm has approximately the same performance as the Winchester White Box that we often recommend. About 1190-1200 FPS muzzle velocity.

At the range today and it functioned flawlessly with the Speer Lawman. Felt very smooth and was accurate. Not bad for an old pistol!
