Favorit/Best 9mm ammo?
Not sure if this is the right section but what are you guys' best/favorite ammunition to use in a 9mm luger? any specific grain I should go pick up? I'm new to 9mm so I don't know what's good to shoot and what's trash to shoot. Thanks!

The Winchester White Box sold at Walmart is generally considered the best/least expensive combination of reliable ammo for the Luger.

In Europe: Sellier & Bellot 124gr FMJ.
In the US: Winchester Whitebox 115gr FMJ. For the fainthearted: S&B 145gr Subsonic works as well :) Nono: Anything +P / +P+, anything with a Remington name on it, WW2 surplus ammunition. |

Geco 9mm also works well, but I found that it tends to leave more unburnt residue behind. After a Geco shooting session the gun looks like it went to Iraq and back, but after a S&B or Winchester session, it is as clean as it was before.

Great! Thanks! Is there a winchester white box 124gr or just 115? I've read in places that you should shoot 124gr stuff. true/false?

Both 115 and 124 are fine. I believe the greatest single factor in Luger ammo reliability is the overall length of the cartridge, not bullet weight or power.
|
Not to hijack, but does anyone have experience with American eagle 115gr? I ask because I have a ton of it.
|
My favorite is actually my hand loaded ammo, followed by WWB 115gn.

The 124 gr. brass cased S&B I've fired here, in the US, is certainly on the hotter side. It does, however, function the pistol properly. Sieger |
The American Eagle 9mm works fine in my Luger as well as my other 9mm pistols.

I have used both the winchester white box and american eagle 115 without problems. Both shoot well in all my lugers.
