My new 1940 42 910e bringback

Hello

After waiting over a year i get my fingers on this pistol, imported from the U.S 2011,by a family member in Norway.
It should be a bringback from Berlin 1945.
The pistol was found whith 5 German rounds in the mag!
Hope you can give my your opinions!
Sorry for my bad Eng writing!

Regards from Norway

Kai

what does that cursive e stand for below the serial number on the front?

alanint 10-12-2012 01:55 PM

That is the Alphabetical block of 10,000 guns your pistol was produced in. Each year of the era started with the first block of just numbers, 1-10,000, then 1-10,000 A, then 1-10,000 B, etc.

Welcome Kai, a fine looking pistol. The first story I heard of one being re imported, was there any special reason?

kpf 10-12-2012 03:45 PM

The reason was that he was the only one in the family that wanted the gun!
He tried to get it reg by the police but get negative answer, then he trade it whith me:rockon:

Hi Kai and welcome to the forum.

Looks like the s/n is "610e" rather than 901e. A nice 1940 date "42" code Mauser Luger. Looks to be all matching including magazine and in original finsh.

As Doug mentions, the suffix letter on the front of the frame above the trigger guard is part of the serial number, and a suffix letter. There were also no suffix letter serial number blocks after "z" and before "a" blocks that are abbreviated "ns". Like "1234ns.

He's back here in the USA, but people like Jerry can repair your holster strap, restoring your holster.

RRRR its of course 610 e thank you!!:banghead:

Mauser's German military serial# system was continuous starting in 1934 (K date) production till 1942. The entire alphabet (except for j) was used over 3 1/2 times. The 'no suffix' blocks are in 1934, 1937, 1940 and, 1941.
DWM and Erfurt's German military serial #'s started over with #1ns, at the beginning of each year.
