Holster Unit Marks

Hey:

So I recently bought a luger (pictures to come later) and It came with a holster. Dont believe that it is the original holster for the gun, but it looks like it has 3 different unit markers on it. I was wondering if anyone had a good guess as to what they are? The faded one is located on the top flap, the other two are located just under the flap.

Thanks for the help!

I believe the top one is the makers mark and I think that means 1913?

second - no idea

third - unit marking for sure, i am no good at deciphering.

Wow! A real storybook holster.

The maker's mark is AWM/9/13...Artilleriewerkstatten München/work group 9/1913

The first unit of issue was the 6. Chev marking, which would be the 6th Chevaulegers Regiment (a cavalry unit) that I think was part of the 5th Bavarian Infantry Division.

The later unit of issue looks to be a Weimar era marking for the 4th Eskadron, Reiter-Regiment 17 (a heavy cavalry unit), weapon (inventory) number 40. I could be all wrong on this one as my knowledge of Weimar era markings is shakey at best

(I could be dead wrong on both of them! :))

Fantastic info, thank you so much! I have already started looking up the 6th regiment. Found a picture of the 8th regiment, hope to find a picture of the 6th soon

Reiter Regiment 17 was formed after WWI from the 1st and 2nd Bavarian Uhlan Regiments. Attached are photos of a veteran or reservist's certificate from the 17th RR. Also attached is a list of all the Reichswehr Reiter Regiments traditions (origins), garrison locations, etc.
