1900 AE toggle grip question
I recently saw what appeared to be a 1900 AE 30 cal luger at a local gun show. I own a 1900 AE and what I have seen on this forum for the most, have dished toggle grips.
This AE luger I saw had a toggle that was not dished and had the skinny style barrel on it. It did have the american eage crest on it though. As I did not get a chance to really hold it and look at it close, I was curious about the toggle grips. My question to all, is this proper for an AE style luger (non-dished grips)? |
Might be an 06. They changed to regular toggles then

Are the 1906 9mm AE though. This one had 7.65 on the tag it had on it. Are these lugers a little more colectable or about the same as most AE.
|
Yes..1906 AE in .30 Luger and some in 9mm less than 1900 but still strong
|
Thanks! This cat was asking around 3 grand for it though. Whats your thoughts on that price?

And the answer is...Not hard at all... :D |
Dished toggle knobs would not jibe with a coil main spring..can't have it both ways!

I have a top condition 1906 AE that Tom Whiteman has for me for sale, i think he put $2800 or less on it for me?
I have a 1906 AE in 9mm that I bought several years ago for around $2600, it is in very nice condition. Ed |

I'm only trying to dish the knob like the 1900's...I don't care about the knurling...It's for visual impact only, not for authenticity... :p I'll have lots of time for projects like this after 30 November... |
P-08 toggle is 1.412" wide, 1900 toggle is 1.566" wide. It seems like a small difference until you try pulling (instead of pinching) back a P-08 toggle.

I'm going to have to rethink my plan to machine a set of P08 toggle knobs...I'll practice on a piece of tubing turned to P08 knob sizes...Maybe increase the 'dish' radius...Hmmmm... |
Rich,
Your measurements are virtually identical to mine. Pehaps you could mill the faces of a P-08 toggle flat and graft on an extension, maybe press fit into the hole in the toggle. KFS |
