I recently acquired this, and Im getting mixed reviews of what exactly it is and approximate value. The magazine does match the pistol as well. If you guys can help me with this It would be extremely appreciated. Thanks

It is a 1910 army luger, made by DWM, at some point it went into police service (see the sear safety on the left)

There is a good chance it has been reblued at some point, as the acceptance and final proof on the right are 'faded'

The holster is a WW2 army holster that someone has added a swastika to it.

I guess I didnt see the other marks on the right just thought they were scratches. My camera and flash brought that out. So value? should I even oil this? This is the first time Ive ever had a "collectible" firearm. Should I even fathom shooting it. Is the swastika emblem legit and from where? It looks to be real silver severely tarnished. Thanks for the info so far Ed.

you oil it just like any other gun, rub down, don't use anything harsh on it

does the magazine bottom have a 1 or 2 besides the serial number? if yes, then it went into police service

Shooting is up to you, personally, I would buy a 'shooter' one mismatched. If this one is all matching, you can break a numbered part (all small parts should have last two of the sn), and the value would be cut in half.

A guess so far, is that it is worth $1000-$1300, depending on if reblued, all matching, etc / police conversions are worth less than an original imperial

The swastika is probably real, but during WW1 and WWII items were NEVER allowed or put onto holsters, this was added by a US GI or the like later

yes there are other numbers on the original magazine, on the top there is 422, then the sn 4921, then below is a 1, with the d or a 2 stamp like on the barrel. The 1 toward the bottom and the other stacked vertically above it.

it appears to me that your suffix (every 10k they made they started the numbers over), and yours is a 'd' suffix

the 422 might be a unit or rack number, and the 2 a police meaning its the second number

i would need pictures to confirm

Are there any letters, numbers on the front gripstrap?

Just looking at the pictures I would say it has been reblued. If that is the case then about half the value Ed stated. His estimate was for original finish. The holster is worth $175-$200. The emblem needs to come off it. It may have value but I do not collect them so have zero knowledge. Some better and more clear pictures would help us . Welcome to the Forum. Bill

Most definitely a reblued gun. The eagle and swastika is an early SS or party cap badge that a GI who came into posession of the rig most likely added to the holster. The cap badge, if original, which I believe it is, is worth $200, give or take.

It's likely that the entire pistol wasn't refinished. You can still see the toggle axle retaining pin is in the white.

It is very clear that the imperial proofs have been removed and that area reblued. Other areas also may have been redone, but with this lighting (probably flash?) it's hard to judge.

Defacing the proofs does unfortunately remove it from what is considered collectable.

If it's all matching, including the magazine, it is probably in the high end of the shooter category. $900-$1000. Please post pictures of the magazine base.

If removing the pin doesn't damage or deface it, the holster is worth $200, and looks correct to me.
