Question on Luger
10 Attachment(s)
A coworker want to get an idea of the value of his luger. Notice the front and rear sight are not the type normally found on Lugers. The inside of the grips are not marked.
Thank you |
The gun is a 1920's commercial and most likely in .30 caliber (7.65mm). The front sight is an aftermarket item, probably a Marbles brand. The rear sight has been filed down and highly modified. The grips are reproduction. They are very good quality Swiss-style grips made in Italy, probably the best feature of the gun. The magzine is a former police issue that has been filed down and renumbered to match the gun...it is also incorrect in that the original magazine for this gun would have had a wooden base.
The gun appears refinished and with the modified sights it has little or no collector interest. The value is approximately $400, give or take a little. |
Non matching shooter, mag was forced matched to the serial#, sights modified, rear toggle non matching to the gun. That is all based on pics you provided.

I see it as a very presentable shooter. I'd guestimate that it could bring more than what Ron stated, but to a collector it has little interest. It would actually be a very nice shooter IF it is 9mm, but probably not. $800 MAX, $650 on average. Just depends on how good a salesman you are. Which remiinds me of an old Criminal Justice Professor I had many years ago: "The only difference between seduction and rape is salesmanship...".

In my opinion this mag is an East German. Very easy to detect. Some are with a WH body too. Many people take them as police mags, sorry.
:burnout: |
The Vopo mags that I have seen are all extruded and marked 2-1001.

Your observation is true for NEW VOPO mags... but both the East Germans and Russians pressed every available functional magazine into service... so some of the old Pre-WW2 mags were also found with these guns. Some repaired, and some original condition... |
Any visible import marks?
