While my 1920 carbine is apart, #3231t I got a chance to photograph the beautiful wooden grip and stock. What kind of wood is used in my both? These were defintitly beautiful as compared to the others. The wooden grip has the full serial number and the stock has the last two '31 'I thank you all! Eric

Eric
Your wood is Walnut. Bill

Ron Wood 09-07-2012 01:52 PM

Specifically, old growth European walnut. It isn't available any more. In order to make his authentic magazine bottoms from the same material, G.T. has to use the wood out of old Mauser rifle stocks.

Ron, did the same apply to the earlier carbine?

Ron Wood 09-07-2012 03:36 PM

Certainly.

Eric,
This past March I was a snowbird (?) in Melbourne Beach Florida. You are fortunate that you have many days of bright pleasant sunshine. The lighting uplifts the spirit as well as provides great photography.
