Why do people say this? And I see it a lot.
 

Trigger pulls on military lugers can be very bad and few gunsmiths today will attempt a trigger job on them although it can be done.

Luger triggers are terrible.

Luger triggers are spongy.

Personally I think it has the best trugger of almost anything I can think of off hand, the break is crisp, there is no heavy pull. WHY do people think this?

IMHO, those words are parroted by some people who have never fired a Luger and who have been told these words over and over until it is ingrained into their little brains. Other folks try to compare the Luger's trigger to that of a 1911 or a highly tuned pistol. I just ignore them and smile when I outshoot them with my own Luger.

Hell my Luger has the best trigger feel of any gun I've fired. For that matter the the angle of the handle makes it a much more natural pointing feel.

Depends on the luger, most are fairly smooth, but I have had them rough and really spongy.

I'm happy with my triggers, maybe it is a question of trigger envy. :rolleyes:

I have fired a great many lugers in over 50 years.

I believe if you fellows tried some tuned or even some stock pieces you might have different opinions.
2 I can think of now are a HD Military .22 and a Colt Shooting Master in .45 Colt.

It is generally accepted that Lugers are wanting as to trigger action.

Lugers compared to what? S&W K-22's triggers break clean like a thin glass rod at 2 lbs. Lugers are a combat weapon and the trigger is fine for a close up gun fight.

You wanna terrible trigger pull, try shooting a 91/30 mosin nagant rifle. It feelslike a week trying to pull that trigger. My luger trigger is great

I would say most unknowlegeable opinions on Luger trigger pull might come from the complexity of the system. It IS the Rube Goldberg of trigger pulls! A lot has to happen to finally release the firing pin.
Like most here I have never found the trigger pull on most Lugesr to be objectionable.

I have not pulled as many Luger triggers as many of you folks have, but in my limited experience, I have found no two that are the same. As Tom stated, it is a "different" type of trigger system. To me, it's complicity is sort of like the Browning Hi Power(P35). They have a lot of things happening before the round begins it's travel. My old 1921 DWM Comm. Luger, for some reason, has a beautiful trigger pull, that will rival a tuned 1911. On the other hand, my Mauser Parabellum, reminds me of a stock Browning Hi Power, with a lot of take-up, gritty feel, and hard letoff. The Mauser is a bit better since I have been shooting it more recently.
