Newbie Question
New to the forum, but have a question on a "numbers matching" Luger. Looking at a "42" Code Luger dated 1939. Serial number is xx77r. All external serial numbers are matching. However, the inside grip is stamped "77" with a capital "Y". Should the grips have the letter "r" as well, or is the "Y" just an inspector's stamp?

Welcome aboard.
"r" is found only on front of the frame. " Y" is a workers stamp. Ken D |

Thanks! However, there is no letter on the barrel, only the full serial and 8.82 stamp.

Hi G.P. and welcome. The suffix letter is only found on the frame front on Mauser Lugers. Regards, Norm
