First of all, we all know what it is and what it isn't. My curiosity is when the engraving was done. If the gun was here it would be obvious. Another cool Goering Luger story. But since its in Germany and most likely always has been there who would have done it and why. That's not cheap workmanship. Wear patterns are consistent with a military gun. Anyway, just thought I'd toss it out.

The case is from a post war (1970s vintage) Mauser Parabellum out of Oberndorf.
