Attachment 27829I recently bought this 1918 DWM artillary Luger. All matching serial numbers including magazine. I was told it was brought back from France after WW1 by a fellows great grandfather. I was thinking of shooting it but thought I should learn some more.

A nice artillery model. Shoot it if you choose, but if it is matching, figure that half of your investment will go up in smoke if any numbered part breaks. Takes a little of the fun out if it, I know.
Regarding valuation, based on the photos, I'd guess about $2500 if it all matches.

Danial..Very nice looking pistol! David is absolutely correct..take a look at the holster..somebody decided to yank up on the pull-up strap and tore it out. This is what happens when no respect is shown for coming on 100 year old valuable artifacts. Shoot if you like but I have broken many a part on Artillery pistols..Shooters of course where a broken part can be easily replaced.
By the way..your holster needs attention. You need to restore the torn away section in the front before it gets worse or lost...Right now it can be reasonably restored. It also needs a light coating of lanolin to treat the surface from cracking and further deterioration. What does the back look like?
