King Kong (2006 version)

My grandson stopped by the other day and with him he brought a DVD of the last remake of KING KONG. This is the 2006 version and the computor graphics are unbelievable.

About 40 minutes into the movie and a number of the good guys have been overpowered and are about to be executed by the unhappy natives. The ships captain comes to there rescue and immediately despatches 2 of the would-be executioners with an ARTILLARY LUGER, yes, it was at that point that I took a genuine interest in the movie.

This is the first time I have ever seen an Artillary Luger in any movie. I immediately went back with the film and jogged the pause button and was able to see the flash and then the toggle flying up and the ejected case. Super cool!!!!!!!!!!!

There are several. Doug McClure's "The Land That Time Forgot" a fairly cheap "B" movie, features several Artilleries.

Cobb. With tommy lee jones, is my favorite with an artillery Luger.

Ron Wood 07-26-2012 10:28 PM

The "League of Extraodinary Gentlemen" has a gold plated Artillery.

Ron, I love that movie :)

And in King Kong, not only are there lugers but Thompson's :D

"Guns of Navarone" has one. It's used to hit a wounded prisoner. Regards, Norm

I wonder if that Gold plated Artie was the one Herbie Woodend had? (was this movie filmed in England?)

Didn't the original King Kong [1939?] also have an artillery???

The Luger is cool, the 2006 remake of King Kong not so much. I am a purist and will stick with the old 1933 B&W King Kong as being the best.

Here is an example of where a Broomhandle & a Borchardt was used. In the "Get Smart" episode in which Sigfried appears for the first time "A Spy for a Spy" not only does Max pull out a Borchardt (later) both Max & Sigfried both pull out Broomhandle Mausers when disarming each other!!

Broomhandles start @ 1:54

Borchardt @ 2:21

I loved "Get Smart" & this episode is one of my favorites for it's zannyness!! :roflmao:

This is the earliest war movie I remember watching, with my father. One of the best "commando" movie ever.

Here it is, Norme:

The Clint Eastwood movie "Joe Kidd" has extensive use of a broom handle in full automatic used by one of the bad guys and subsequently used by Joe Kidd to elliminate the bad guys.

Broomhandle in the movie "The Rocketeer" one of favorite movies. Also lots of 1911's and Thompson sub machine gun's
