Cool! Maybe there could be a "Black Widow" P-61 night spot.
"Lady in the Dark" nose art..... http://www.questmasters.us/P-61.html |
Certainly a good suggestion. The P-61 is a favorite indeed, alas I don't have an example in my portfolio. Using someone else's images would create legal infringement questions without a release. Do you have any other favorite vintage planes?
Thanks Joe |

Eric Slone is Americana ie barns, tools and weather which got him into aviation. In his piece above you can see his emphasis on cloud patterns. He drew in pastels to bring his cloud patterns. It was a beautiful rendition more of weather and clouds. These only 4 know of aircraft besides mine! Im told after his son died in an aircraft accident, He never drew another plane!

Went through my attachments file today and deleted a metric ton of stuff, and couldn't quite ditch this yet. Since this thread is ~ 3yrs old, I thought I'd re-post to let some newer members get a laugh. :biggulp:

I wonder if artists still use the bomber jacket as a canvas for their creativity. Pin up art on an A-2 is just plain AWESOME!
|
The boring ol' air force no longer allows art on jackets, although they do score points for bringing back the traditional leather A2.
Steve McQueen's jacket in The Great Escape was an original, wartime A2. You are never close enough to be able to read the name strip, but it did belong to someone. That particular jacket had rank insignia removed from the shoulders prior to filming, as the discoloration on each epaulet where the rank insignia once were is obvious. |
