Magazine Issues

Greetings all,

I recently purchased a Luger (a double dated mixmaster and unfortunately chromed) as a shooter. Thanks to these forums I found the solution to problem with my pistol's toggle prematurely locking.

I have issues with two magazines when it comes to this pistol:

The first is the magazine that come with the pistol, the wood bottom is numbered to the frame but the body has been chromed as well as the follower.
With this magazine the spring is tight but loosened up after firing a full mag. After firing two more the thumb knob popped out. The magazine doesn't seem to want to go back together properly.

The second magazine is a reproduction of unknown origin from Sportsman's Guide. It takes some work to get the 8th round into the magazine. At times this magazine will ease out of the mag well and at other times it has to be ripped out.

Are these issues repairable or would new magazines be advisable. If so where can new mags be located?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I personally never put in 8 rounds, since I am at a range, one extra round isn't a big deal.

Mecgar are the best repro magazines, real magazines, i would try and pick up some east german DDR mag
