Looking for lanyard info
3 Attachment(s)
A friend of mine has this. He's interested in selling but I don't have an idea of a fair price.
Hoping someone here can give me some info about this lanyard. I think it's probably WWI US or British. It's only marked "PAT Feb 20 17" and nothing else. It's in pretty good condition. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pix. thx, |
Roland, This is a standard US WW1 lanyard. It looks original but there are copies out there. Made pretty much for the 45 auto but would work on any pistol with a lanyard loop I guess.
You can look on Ebay and see what they are going for there..They come up often. |
It is for the Colt M1911 pistol, probably WWI period.
EDIT - Jerry typed faster than me... |
I had about 50 of these at one time. I was selling them at $25 apiece back some years ago. I think maybe $35-$40 would be fair today.

Douglas..EDIT - Jerry typed faster than me... takes longer to get from South America!
Completed auctions on Ebay list them selling for $22 to $100 with about a $50 average? By the way..anyone looking for a US pistol lanyard..stay away from the WW2 model. They are very stiff at the connection to the pistol and IMO are pure crap compared to the WW1 type. |
Thank you all for the swift responses. I did some more searching, and yeah, these don't appear to all that rare.
This came from an old estate, I'm pretty confident it's authentic. I'll let me friend know. Maybe I'll make him an offer. I also got a another really nice goody from him. I'll post some photos in a few days when it arrives. I'll have some questions for Mr. Burney.. :) |
